Stefan Lorant's wonderful shot from 1937 entitled "Our Lily, Arum Lily". In his brilliant shots, this pioneer of photography sought similarities between the subjects photographed and the realities of everyday life that surrounded him.
The Knight of the Flowers, 1894, by Georges Rochegrosse. Detail and photo by Paul Perrin. Edit.
[id: a close-up on a particular detail of the oil painting mentioned in the above caption. it shows the torso, neck, and upper arms of a knight wearing a chain shirt under polished silvery plate armor, which impressionistically reflects the knight's surroundings; a beautiful field of flowers, an open blue sky, and several pale and nude feminine figures. there is a blooming morning glory vine draped over the knight's right shoulder, and peering around the knight's body are the faces of a few of these nude figures, their hands delicately touching different pieces of the armor. one peers under the knight's right arm, her face partially obscured, looking up as her right hand rests on the right shoulder plate. another cups the back of the knight's neck and left shoulder, resting her head on the back of her hand while looking up at the knight. yet another hand reaches up from below frame to gently grasp the hilt of the knight's sword, which hangs from a simple white belt with a cross pattern on it, just below the knight's left hip. /end id.]

I’m actually losing it over this, this is gorgeous. I have been staring at this for ages marvelling at the inclusion of pretty accurate sutures. It’s a SKULL in a SHELL, I’m obsessed 10/10
new piece about queer conventions of attractiveness, body hair, and my own transition <3
